PHANTOMS RETOOL WEBSITE; USHER IN NEW 'GRAY' COLOR
The West Michigan Phantoms have retooled and redesigned the team's flagship website for
the first time in nearly fourteen years.  With the team excited to soon launch a new jersey,
the third for the Phantoms since being founded in 2002, the club thought it was time to
modify the website to reflect the new color, but continue to remain loyal to the Black and
Yellow.  A redesign of the website has been in the works for about a year, but following
the push for the new sweaters, the team thought now was the time for the website
re-launch.  A change from the traditional black background to gray should help make the
site more 'eye-friendly' and a push to help simplify the look of the site was the primary
focus of the re-tool.  To date, most of the site has been refreshed in the new gray look,
but due to the amount of pages in the history section and past-season sections, areas of
that portion of the website remain a work in progress.  We hope you enjoy the enjoy look.
If you would like to see anything added or changes that are still needed, please let us know.
MEN'S LEAGUE SWEATERS CREATING NEW 'THIRD'
JERSEYS FOR PHANTOMS; EXPECTED SEPTEMBER
Since February 2019, the Phantoms have been working with a
handful of companies to help design new 'Third' jerseys for the
West Michigan Phantoms.  In March, the decision was made to
join forces with Michigan-based Men's League Sweaters to usher
in a new look for the soon-to-be seventeen year old team from
West Michigan.  the St. Joseph based company provided the best
design following a few ideas from the year and is currently producing the initial order of
twenty jerseys and matching socks for the Phantoms.  The team is excited to bring the
sublimated printing process to the Phantoms, offering jerseys in which the ink is
heat-bonded directly into the fabric guaranteeing the jersey to stay vibrant for life.
Additionally, once the original order of jerseys is received, players and fans will be able to
order their own jersey directly from the company to match.  The team is hoping to launch
the jerseys at Walker Ice & Fitness in September, right after the team conducts it's annual
'PhantomFest' party.  The design the posted on the team's Facebook page on March 14th
and will be released on website in September.

LAKESIDE LOCOMOTIVES CAPTURE FIRST
CHAMPIONSHIP
The Lakeside Locomotives were able to etch their name
into the Lakeshore Sports Centre history books on May
21, 2019, as the team captured the franchise's first
championship by downing Fetch Brewing 7-2 in the
championship game.  For the Locos, the fifth year team
was able to use solid goal scoring with three goals in the
opening frame, followed by a pair of strikes in each of
the second and third periods to lift the squad to the
championship victory.  The Locos, who were forced to
wear the alternate Phantom Yellow jerseys during the game due to conflict with the Fetch
Brewing Black jerseys, were able to keep the defending champion Fetch Brewing at bay
for most of the game, as despite both team's exchanging a goal early in the opening period,
the Locomotives would respond with the game's next four goals to take a 5-1 lead midway
into the second period, a lead that the Locomotives would not relinquish.  Late in the
second period, Fetch would strike with their second goal of the game to narrow the
Locomotive lead to 5-2, however, in the third period, the Lakeside crew would capitalize
twice more to seal Fetch's fate and take claim to a 7-2 win.  The Locomotives were
powered by Zach Kinney and Ray Schelhas each with a pair of goals, while Matt Neiger,
Matt Zehr and Trent Kik would stage singletons for the Locos.  In addition to the five
marksmen on the night, a total of seven players (Kinney, Schelhas, Neiger, Zehr, Kik,
(Gordie) Anderson and (Shawn) DeBoer) would capture assists to complete  a total team
effort enroute to the league championship.  The Locomotives completed the regular season
in fifth place with a 8-12-2 record, while Fetch Brewing completed the regular season in
third place with a 10-8-4 overall record.  The Locomotives and Fetch completed the
season season 3-3 against each other.
